Performance Optimization
With her knowledge and experience as a collegiate athlete and currently the head physical therapist for The Colburn School Conservatory of Music and School of Performing Arts, Dr. Carr treats athletes, musicians and performers at all levels, with the goal of achieving optimal performance.
Dr. Carr evaluates and treats her athletes and performers from head to toe using her whole body approach to healing. With a keen eye, Dr. Carr sees and treats areas of the body that break down contributing to overuse injuries. The source of one’s pain and injury may not be apparent until a whole body approach is taken into account. She also incorporates breath work in different body positions promoting relaxation, body awareness and focus.
Often times overuse injuries from hours of daily practice contribute to limited range of motion, impaired nerve mobility, muscular imbalances hindering optimal performance. Assessments are performed in a variety of positions, whether static or dynamic specific to each performer’s need. She may attend one of her athlete’s games or a musician’s performance. Musicians are also asked to bring their instruments to their sessions. With her attention for detail and intuitive touch, Dr. Carr utilizes a variety of gentle hands on techniques and specific functional movement patterns, restoring overall body awareness allowing for efficient, effective and optimal performance.
Whether you need a tune-up before, during or after a competition or performance or may need to be seen on a regular basis, with a whole body philosophy combined with target treatments specific to a particular injury and talent.
